At the Spring meeting in 2018, Commercial Collection Agencies of America gathered at the Triadic Tournament, Hollywood Style.  It was, by far, one of the most engaging and meaningful Triadic Tournaments hosted by the Association.    

Members from each arm of the triad gathered into teams.  Each team became  a “movie studio” and was assigned a script of a famous scene from a Hollywood blockbuster.  The teams had an hour to produce their scene: memorizing lines, gathering props and costumes and rehearsing. 

The ballroom was transformed into the Kodak Theatre with a stage lined with movie posters and Oscar statues.

You haven’t experience a Triadic Tournament unless you’ve seen Matt Garcia of Barnett & Garcia ride into a ballroom on a bicycle, dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz….or Les Taroff doing his best impression of Joe Pesci’s character, Tommy DeVito in Goodfellas.  Or, perhaps you caught the debut of Pete Roth as Vito Corleone or Nancy Seiverd as Cher in Moonstruck.  The laughter of the audience was deafening!

But what happened after the performances is what members will never forget.  An announcement was made that all the props, movie posters and costumes were to be auctioned off and the proceeds would be given to the CCA of A Gives Back charity, The Emily Stillman Foundation.  George Bresler and Patrick Kilbourn jumped into action: auctioning without stopping until the highest bid was taken.  In what seems as an instant, over $10,000 was raised, including donations from two law firms which offered to match the total amount raised.  The generosity of members was overwhelming.  It was truly an example coming together for a greater good; collegiality at its absolute best!  When Michael Stillman took the podium to express his appreciation, it was difficult to hold back tears.

To be part of an organization that values relationships, as much as it values missions, objectives and platforms, is rewarding.  Commercial Collection Agencies of America strives to offer those opportunities to all members in a blockbuster way!
